Three modes. The pet dresses for each, so you can tell at a glance.

  1. Mode 1

    Whisper

    Hold the side button, speak, let go. Your words are typed wherever your cursor is, in any app. A sheet on the r1 offers Return and Undo.

    Whisper auto

    Same voice typing, and Return is pressed for you the moment the words land. Good for chat boxes and terminals.

  3. Mode 3

    Agent

    Talk to Claude from the r1. It keeps one ongoing conversation on your Mac, so it remembers what you asked earlier. Needs Claude Code installed and signed in.

Claude asks before it acts

In Agent mode, every tool Claude wants to use, like running a command or editing a file, shows up as a card on the r1. Tap Allow or Deny. Nothing runs until you say so, and you never have to walk back to your desk to answer.

What you'll need

A Mac
Apple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS 13 or later.
An r1
One running compatible custom firmware. Use one you already own or buy one separately. A guided installer for stock devices is still in development.
For Agent mode
Claude Code installed and signed in. Claude costs are separate.

Where your voice goes

Dictation runs on your Mac, with a speech model it downloads once. Agent requests go to Anthropic.
